Names show your own identity. We are born and die being named and as part of a family and society. Nobody can live without a name. Names are deeply individual and social as well. The feeling of belonging is so rooted in our names... But how are names formed and chosen in our different social groups? What can we know by just a name ? Searching for our European Roots will start by our students´personal identity and a self presentation. "What is your name? Let me introduce myself..." Have you ever thought about how difficult it is to choose your baby´s name? Do you like your name? Why was your name chosen ? S.E.R., the acronym of our project, is also the verb "to be" in Spanish, that is, the verb for identity.
HAVING COMPARED THE SYSTEM OF NAMES IN THE BASQUE COUNTRY, PORTUGAL, LITHUANIA, CYPRUS AND NORTHERN IRELAND AND AFTER EMAIL EXCHANGES AMONG GROUPS OF STUDENTS THERE WERE SOME CONCLUSIONS TO DRAW. HOW SIMILAR OR DIFFERENT WE CAN ALL BE JUST LOOKING AT OUR NAME !
