OUR PROJECT

During the Elos Contact Seminar held in Maastricht in March 2006, seven European schools decided to work together on a project “Searching for our Common European Roots” and wanting to implement it on the curriculum. It means that we will start together as a new network, a course for students, based on the sharing of a challenging common European future by reflecting on our cultural roots. Each school will develop its own regional variant on the topic, analysing various aspects (e.g. names, traditions, art influences, gastronomy, theatre, etc.) within a general framework created by all participating teachers so as to develop a common European citizenship and intercultural awareness. The students will trace traditions, looking at their personal background, surroundings, and will highlight the similarities and dissimilarities in common with their peers in the other countries The results will certainly help them understand and make them aware of how much in common they have although they each maintain their own national identity.
We believe that discovering our European roots will establish a common European future.
