PROJECT PLANNING


OBJECTIVES
· To establish a common European future by reflecting on our different cultural traditions.
· To develop the ELOS principles (Europe as a Learning Environment in Schools) in a cross curricular approach.
· To increase students and teachers´ competences in European knowledge and awareness.
· To research into the students´ involvement in a common European identity (SER, the acronym of the project means “to be” in Spanish and Portuguese , and that is the verb for identity).
· An evaluation of the pupils´ initial knowledge of European cultural traditions through questionnaires.
· To promote a culture of tolerance and respect for other cultural traditions and, therefore, diminish the potential for racism and xenophobia.
· To make students learn in a multicultural dimension as European citizens.
· To improve our curriculum supporting students´ awareness and motivation.
· To promote equality between men and women and equal opportunities for disabled people among students.

ACTIVITIES
Academic Year 2007/8
First general meeting in Kaunas (Lithuania)
1st term: Awareness of students´European identity through questionnaires. How much do our students know about their partners´ traditions? Conclusions and email exchanges among students.
2nd term:Names in our society. Powerpoint presentations tracing how names are formed through the years in the partners´countries (social,etymological,cultural and religious background)
3rd term: A history line of the 20th century.Do we have common roots?
Second project meeting in Cyprus
Academic Year 2008/9
Project meting in Vitoria-Gasteiz (Basque Country)
1st term:Cultural traditions within the family (religious festivities,old stories,songs and recipies,etc).Follow-up meeting in Portugal.
2nd term: theatre
3rd term: Merging of products and final maps of Europe with no borders reflecting these two years´work.
